Is an 8 yard skip big enough?

Loading and weight
Skips of 8 yards and larger can’t be filled entirely with soil or hardcore because of weight limits. Mix heavy material with lighter waste, or use a 4 yard skip or grab hire for large amounts of muck away. Keep waste level with the top of the skip.
Do I need a skip permit?
If the skip goes on your drive or other private land, you don’t need a permit. If it has to sit on the road or pavement, the council must issue a skip permit first, and we can organise it for you when you book. See our area pages for council-by-council guidance.
How long can I keep the skip?
Our standard hire is 7 days, which gives you time to finish the job without rushing. If you need it for longer, let us know when you book and we’ll arrange a collection that suits you.
